Practical Magic

ABOUT

We are not a strategic consultancy. We are not a film and TV production company. We are not an advertising agency. Nor are we a content studio. Or a technology incubator.

We simply create things. And help others create things. Things we and others care about. Things that we hope engage, excite and stimulates consciousness.

Think of what we do as practical magic. Creative but sensible solutions that help inspire emotion, engagement and action.

We are storytellers (an overused term but one we feel we have earned), creative strategists, thinkers, makers, and doers who try to embrace the future. We like to see around corners before we make the turn. We don’t specialize in one thing because a good idea can be anything. But we think we’ve made a few wonderful things so far. And what excites us the most is what we have yet to make.

That means thinking deeply about what we do and why we do it and keeping up to date with all the trends and shifts in the world and playing some part in the changes ourselves.

We also aren’t afraid to say “no thank you” to projects or problems that we feel don’t fit our values or where we can’t have real impact.

The world only exists in your eyes. You can make it as big or small as you want.

We have produced feature length documentaries like Abacus: Small Enough to Jail, a co-production with PBS/FRONTLINE, Life Itself with CNN and Making Big Plans: The Story of Chicago’s Olympic Dream with NBC among others.

We have had our share of awards including an Academy Award nomination, a News and Documentary Emmy, the National Board of Review's Best Documentary, the Producer's Guild of America Best Documentary, the American Bar Association’s Silver Gavel Award for Best Documentary and the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Political Documentary among others.
