Abacus: Small Enough to Jail
Mitten Media is the originator/producer of the documentary, Abacus: Small Enough To Jail, Directed by Steve James (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters), it is the saga of a Chinese immigrant family, owners of Abacus Federal Savings of Chinatown, New York. Accused of mortgage fraud by Manhattan DA Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., it is the only U.S. bank to face criminal charges in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. Abacus premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for the 2018 Academy Award for Best Documentary. It also won an Emmy for Best Business Documentary and a Critics Choice Award for Best Political documentary.
